Registrar’s Office Mission Statement

The responsibility of the Registrar’s Office is to maintain the accuracy and integrity of all students’ academic records while adhering to federal, state, and college policies and regulations. These responsibilities are carried out with total compliance to student’s privacy of educational records as set forth in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (www.ed.gov/fpco).

As the steward of the academic records, the Registrar’s Office is committed to serving students, both current and former, faculty, and the academic community by executing its assigned tasks in a manner that is efficient, professional, and ethical.

The duties of the Registrar’s Office include, but are not limited to:

  • complete registration process
  • transcript production
  • enrollment verification
  • program changes
  • veteran support
  • degree evaluation
  • transfer credits
  • clearing students for graduation and awarding degrees
  • enrollment and statistical reporting
  • management of academic records.

The Sex Offender Registration Act requires colleges to advise the campus community where information concerning registered sex offenders can be obtained.

The registry of Sex Offenders in New York can be obtained by checking the http://www.criminaljustice.ny.gov/nsor/.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) maintains a Sex Offender Registry classifying offenders according to their risk of re-offending: low-risk (Level I), moderate-risk (Level 2) and high-risk (Level 3).

Under the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, as amended by the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act, and the New York State Sex Offender Registration Act, LIBI will disclose to the college community information concerning Registered Sex Offenders in accordance with applicable laws.

Sexual offenders registered in New York are required to notify the Registry of any institution of higher learning where he or she expects to be enrolled, attending or employed and whether he or she expects to reside at a facility operated by the institution. Any change in status must be reported to the Registry no later than ten (10) days after such change.

Any violations of LIBI’s policies based on these provisions by LIBI’s employees or students will be handled in accordance with normal college procedures.

As of 10/1/2015 LIBI has no information from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) indicating any Level 2 or 3 Sex Offenders are working or attending the college at this time.
